I hope in you Lord and You will renew my strength. I will soar on wings like eagles, I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
I was reading a devotional this week, one that I'd heard before, but don't really put into practice so well. It was about praying more on God's promises, rather than praying for God to help us with our problems. I find myself so often asking God to help me with this problem or that problem instead of looking at His face and realizing how big He really is and how much He can do. Taking my eyes off of my problems and instead looking at God and the promises He gives me, turns my seemingly impossible problems into something so easy for God to change or help. Instead if I focus on God and His strength and mighty power, my problems don't seem so big after all. Another reminder for me of the importance of memorizing these verses, so when I take each thought captive, I have those verses ready at any moment to pray.
So often it's easy to get down on life, problems, health, the world, jobs, family, money, and the list goes on.
But it seems the most valuable thing we can do with our mind is to take these verses and pray them over every area of our life. It seems that when I focus on what God can do my problems do get smaller. I'm working on it this week in my prayers and hoping that the peace I find will carry me even during the tough moments. And I pray the same for you.
Dear Lord, may you help us during our difficult days and even our easier ones to remember that You are the one who provides strength and power for each and every one of us, especially when we are weary. And You WILL renew our strength so that we WILL soar on wings of eagles, not just flap through the wind; and we WILL run, not limp, and we WILL walk and NOT grow faint. Give us wisdom and remind us daily that you have a purpose for each of us and a plan for us to prosper and not harm us. Plans for a hope and a future. And help us to know deep in our hearts your love for us and that you WILL fulfill your purpose for us. And thank you for being with us always, and providing your peace that surpasses all understanding, as you promise, in your name Immanuel.
